Temporary exhibition 2020 | Space for life

Project Background

In 2019, the Montreal Planétarium set out to host Origines, a temporary exhibition first presented in Paris at the Jardin du Luxembourg. The institution called on La bande à Paul to adapt the experience to its distinctive architectural setting.

What La bande à Paul Brought to the Table

The central challenge was to integrate 80 works by photographer Olivier Grunewald and journalist Bernadette Gilbertas into a two-storey, non-traditional exhibition space. La bande à Paul responded by engaging directly with the architecture to offer fresh vantage points on the photographic corpus, playing with image scale to spark both wonder and emotion. The immersive experience unfolds in four thematic movements – Chaos, Earth, Eden, and Creatures – formally alternating between the grand and the intimate, from the violent spectacle of volcanic eruption to the fragile beauty of a single bloom.
