French, a language to celebrate! | Montreal Museum of Archaeology and History

Permanent exhibition 2024 | Pointe-à-Callière

Project Background

The Société du musée d’archéologie et d’histoire de Montréal (Pointe-à-Callière) launched a call for proposals to design, produce, and build a highly interactive temporary exhibition, without traditional display objects, on the theme of the French language, to be presented at Place des Arts. La bande à Paul carried out the project in collaboration with the digital design studio CREO.

What La bande à Paul Brought to the Table

Three main challenges were identified: the limited footprint of the exhibition space; the need to strike a content balance (e.g., political vs. historical) to reach a broad public; and the careful selection of public figures to promote inclusion and speak to multiple generations. To do justice to such a rich subject, the team drew from diverse sources of inspiration. The result is a playful, colourful, and celebratory space, an invitation to explore, express, and revel in the French language as a living expression of Quebec identity.
