Place Pierre-Boucher | City of Trois-Rivières

Outdoor interpretation circuit 2012-2016 | City of Trois-Rivières

Project Background

In 2011, the City of Trois-Rivières launched a large-scale redevelopment of Place Pierre-Boucher, the ceremonial entrance to its historic district. As part of the revitalization, complete with archaeological digs, La bande à Paul was invited to interpret the findings and help narrate the site’s evolving story within the new design.

What La bande à Paul Brought to the Table

Following in-depth historical and iconographic research, the team proposed three types of interpretive structures, each tailored to different spatial and experiential contexts. Evoking sharply angled industrial tubing, these sculptural forms present interpretive content on their outer surfaces while revealing archival imagery on the interior, rendered in duotone to suggest depth and memory. The structures were built to last, using weather-resistant materials, like aluminum, stainless steel, and high-pressure laminate, designed to withstand the elements while remaining visually coherent within the new civic landscape.
