Expedition: The Arctic | Canadian Museum of History
Temporary exhibition 2011 | Canadian Museum of History
Project Background
The Canadian Museum of History (CMH) enlisted La bande à Paul to design a travelling exhibition recounting a five-year Arctic expedition, built around more than 200 objects, archival records, and scientific samples. The project aimed to bring to life a journey filled with discovery, human drama, and emotional depth.
What La bande à Paul Brought to the Table
Human experience anchored the exhibition, with the expedition members positioned as key protagonists and mediators between the content and visitors. A variety of interactive elements were developed to draw audiences into the story and foster attachment to its central figures. Since the goal of the early-20th-century expedition – Canadian sovereignty in the Arctic – remains politically sensitive and relevant today, La bande à Paul worked closely with the CMH team to ensure the interpretive approach aligned with current federal policy orientations.
