Beauharnois hydropower generating station | Beauharnois Generating Station Interpretation Center

Permanent exhibition 2013 | Hydro-Québec

Project Background

Hydro-Québec operates generating stations, dams, and interpretation centres across the province, welcoming nearly 85,000 visitors each year. In recent years, La bande à Paul has regularly collaborated with the public utility to refresh and enhance these interpretive offerings.

What La bande à Paul Brought to the Table

For the permanent exhibition at the Beauharnois Generating Station interpretation centre, the team developed user-friendly interactive modules exploring both the technical principles behind hydroelectricity and the site’s history. Striking artefacts, including vintage diver gear, were foregrounded, and the graphic approach drew inspiration from the facility’s Art Deco architecture. A vivid, rhythmic design motif composed of triangular forms served various roles: framing key artefacts, marking interpretive panels, and bringing visual cohesion to the entire space.
