Le réseau de l'avenir | Lac-Mégantic

Permanent exhibition 2024 | Hydro-Québec

Project Background

In 2024, the Town of Lac-Mégantic reopened its restored heritage train station, a new anchor in the city’s downtown core. Hydro-Québec was invited to occupy part of the space with an interpretive installation. La bande à Paul was brought in to shape the content, focused on the microgrid co-developed by the municipality and Hydro in 2021.

Ce que la BAP a ajouté au projet

The main challenge lay in integrating new interpretive material within a heritage structure while maintaining continuity with the existing outdoor trail already on site. To bridge the two environments, select graphic elements from the outdoor pathway were reused and extended into the station interior, paired with a scenography tailored to the new space. The exhibition introduces visitors to the closed-loop hydroelectric microgrid installed in Lac-Mégantic and also demystifies basic concepts in electricity through interactive features designed to engage and inform.
