Rembrandt. Etchings from the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen | National Museum of Fine Arts of Quebec

Temporary exhibition 2024 | National Museum of Fine Arts of Quebec

Project Background

In 2024, the MNBAQ welcomed a temporary exhibition devoted to Rembrandt, produced in partnership with the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam. La bande à Paul was invited to create the exhibition’s scenography

What La bande à Paul Brought to the Table

La bande à Paul’s design choices emphasized restraint: a clean, modern scenography that allowed the 80 featured engravings to command attention. A black-and-white palette, echoing the world of etching, formed the visual spine of the space. Materiality was used to deepen the experience – enlarged details from Rembrandt’s original copper plates were printed and applied architecturally, drawing visitors into the textures of the technique. The graphic design, combining classic and contemporary cues, subtly elevated both the prints and the few paintings also on display
