Cap-Saint-Jacques nature park

Permanent exhibition 2022 | City of Montreal

Project Background

The staff of Cap-Saint-Jacques Nature Park oversee a range of installations, including the Centre de plein air du Cap-Saint-Jacques, an outdoor education centre that welcomes children and youth aged 3 to 18. Its mission: to foster playful, hands-on learning about local ecosystems and native flora. At the start of the 2020s, La bande à Paul was commissioned to develop a permanent exhibition for the site.

What La bande à Paul Brought to the Table

The La bande à Paul team designed a series of interpretive modules on the ecological importance of wetland environments. Across seven thematic stations, durable custom furnishings, eye-catching visuals, and simple mechanical interactives were developed to foster engagement. Nature served as both content and frame; interpretive texts were complemented by expansive windows looking out onto lush vegetation and forested vistas. The use of vibrant colours and sustainable materials contributes to an atmosphere attuned to young audiences and their capacity for curiosity.
