A close-knit nature | Biodôme

Permanent exhibition 2024 | Space for life

Project Background

The Montreal Biodôme – part of the Espace pour la vie network – reopened in 2020 after two years of major renovations. As part of this renewal, La bande à Paul was asked to redesign the permanent exhibition in the Biodôme’s lower-level exploration zone.

What La bande à Paul Brought to the Table

The new installation set out to explore the role of keystone species within their ecosystems, while incorporating the Biodôme’s collection of naturalized animals. The design intentionally breaks with traditional display logic: vibrant colours, unexpected groupings, and spatial arrangements meant to surprise and engage. Complementing the display are interactive activities that highlight the continued relevance of naturalized collections, not as static archives, but as educational tools that can still inform, provoke, and delight.
