Permanent exhibition 2019 | POP museum

Project Background

In the fall of 2017, Musée POP management enlisted the team at La bande à Paul to revamp its permanent exhibition. The new exhibit needed to represent and illustrate Québécois culture for local audiences as well as visitors from outside the province – tourists, cruise passengers, and families alike.

What La bande à Paul Brought to the Table

The central challenge lay in tackling the vast and inherently subjective nature of Québécois culture. To address this, a bold solution was proposed: conduct a province-wide survey in partnership with Léger, polling 1,000 Quebec residents. The eight most resonant themes – language, food culture, hockey, First Nations contributions, folktales and legends, ingenuity, winter, and music – formed the exhibition’s conceptual spine. Each section, introduced with a quintessential Québécois expression, showcases objects from the Museum’s collection and offers a unique experience, complete with playful activities designed for younger visitors.
