D'Artagnan, Al Capone and The Others - Weapons and Legends | McCord-Stewart Museum

Temporary exhibition 2015 | McCord-Stewart Museum

Project Background

The McCord Stewart Museum sought to present its extensive collection of arms and armour in a nontraditional format, one that would engage visitors beyond the artifacts’ historical use as instruments of war. La bande à Paul joined the project to help reimagine the exhibition.

What La bande à Paul Brought to the Table

The challenge was to render these historically charged objects not only approachable, but also fun. The solution? Divide the exhibition into four themed zones – Knights, Spies, Cowboys, and Pirates – and frame each through the larger-than-life stories of legendary characters from literature and pop culture. Figures like Blackbeard, James Bond, and Bonnie and Clyde injected a sense of play into the narrative structure, transforming the display into an imaginative and entertaining journey.
