Vieux Moulin | Sainte-Jeanne-d'Arc

Outdoor interpretation circuit 2025 | Vieux Moulin de Sainte-Jeanne-d'Arc

Project Background

Built in 1907 and completely rebuilt in 1938, the Vieux Moulin de Sainte-Jeanne-d’Arc is deeply woven into the municipality’s history. Over the course of its life, it served four different purposes – lumber milling, flour production, electricity generation, and wool carding – under three successive owners. After closing in 1973, it was reborn in the mid-1980s as a tourist and cultural site. In 2024, La bande à Paul was brought in to help enhance the interpretive experience offered to visitors.

What La bande à Paul Brought to the Table

The mandate was clear: complement, without overshadowing, the Vieux Moulin’s dedicated team of seasonal mediators, who already bring its history vividly to life each summer. To extend this storytelling year-round and support self-guided visits, La bande à Paul developed a dual approach: a set of permanent interpretive panels aligned with the building’s architecture, and a mobile system using easels for flexible seasonal use. Visually, the colour blue was chosen to anchor the design as a tribute to the waters that powered the mill and still flow beside it. In a thoughtful gesture of sustainability, all metal panels used in the project were repurposed from a previous exhibition.
